Description
Treatex Bangkirai Oil is a specialist exterior wood finish that provides long term protection to exotic exterior surfaces – preserving their natural beauty. Specially designed for use on exotic timbers such as Bangkirai, Karri, Yellow Balau, Massaranduba, Ipe and Iroko. Treatex Bangkirai Oil is the perfect finish for decking, garden furniture and other exterior wood.
Manufactured on a base of natural sustainable raw materials including sunflower oil, soybean oil and rapeseed oil. It is NOT suitable for timbers that contain tannins, such as Oak.
Preparation
Although Treatex Bangkirai Oil can be applied over most previous finishes it works much better on unfinished timber. Make sure to paint a test area whenever you are overcoating a previously finished surface. Lightly sand any previous finish to be overcoated. Fully remove any flaking or peeling finishes prior to application. Ensure the timber is sound, clean, dry and free from possible contaminants, such as algae, grease, dirt, dust, etc.
Purchase sufficient Bangkirai Oil to complete the whole project, and when more than one tin is required mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be between 8ºC and 25ºC during application and drying. We always recommend conducting a trial application before commencing the project.
Application
Stir tins thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush or roller to evenly apply the Bangkirai Oil. Bangkirai Oil is not a surface building product. Pay particular attention to end grain, on end grain apply wet on wet until product is no longer absorbed by the timber. After approximately 12 hours the first coat can be overcoated. Apply with a brush or roller a second coat of Treatex Bangkirai Oil. After the second coat leave for approximately 12 hours to dry.
