Description
Ronseal Water Based Tile Paint has lots of great benefits over a solvent based paint. The water base gives it a faster drying time; it’s touch dry in 1 hour vs the solvent drying time of 4 hours. If you do need to paint over, you can do so in 4 hours as opposed to 24 hours. It is low odour, low VOC, easy to apply, quick and easy to clean up and it won’t yellow, like a solvent based paint can do over time.
Before you start:
Make sure your room is above 10°C and open a window to keep it ventilated. Cover anything you don’t want to get paint over.
Clean grout with our Grout Cleaner and fix any damaged grout before painting. Then make sure your tiles are cleaned thoroughly to remove all dust, dirt and grease and wipe with a damp cloth.
Application:
Give the paint a really good stir. Then paint it on with a synthetic brush. To get the best finish, go up and down, not side to side, on each tile. It’ll be touch dry in just 1 hour, but don’t get it wet for the next 24 hours.
Most of the time one coat is all you ever need. But, if you’re painting over a bold colour you may need a second coat. If this is the case, leave the first coat to dry for 4 hours. Then give it a light sand with 240grit sandpaper and wipe with a damp cloth. Once the surface is dry put the second coat on.
Aftercare:
Cleaning
Take off as much paint from your brush or roller as you can. Then wash them in warm soapy water. Don’t empty any leftover paint into drains or watercourses. Your local authority may have special ways to get rid of unused paint. Protect from frost.
Maintenance
Avoid abrasive cleaners, these can damage the paint. Clean with soapy water. Don’t get the tiles wet or subject to high humidity for at least 24 hours after painting.
