Description
Ronseal Direct to Metal Paint provies protection for up to 15 years, ideal for bare metal (both interior and exterior), galvanised steel, aluminium, cast iron, stainless steel, wood and PVC. Brighten up bare and rusty surfaces!
Best results will be achieved on a dry day, above 10°C. Ensure the surface is clean and dry. Get rid of any loose rust or paint by gently sanding the surface, and wipe with a damp cloth afterwards to remove any residue. If the metal has been previously painted and is still in good condition it should be lightly sanded with 120 grit sandpaper.
Stir the paint thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes and apply with either a paintbrush or a roller. Alternatively, this paint can be sprayed – to do so carefully dilute it with 10% water.
Adequate coverage will be achieved with only 2 coats but for maximum durability 3 coats is recommended, especially for rusty surfaces. Leave for 2 to 4 hours between each coat. After the final coat the surface will be touch dry in only 30 minutes.
It is worth checking for imperfections annually to keep your metal looking tip top. If any cracks or scratches are discovered, prepare by gently sanding, washing and drying the area and apply 2 coats.
