Description
Treatex Cedar Oil Grey enhances the natural beauty of the timber by adding the weathered greying effect whilst offering good UV and weather proofing properties. Cedar oil penetrates deeply in to the timber surface it attached to the wood capillaries providing protection against extreme climate conditions. The product is based on natural and sustainable raw materials, sunflower oil, safflower oil and soybean oil. Cedar oil is is designed for use on such timbers as Larch & Cedar, Not suitable for oak.
Preparation
Treatex Grey Cedar Oil works best on unfinished timber. Previous finishes which stop Grey Cedar Oil penetrating into the timber (e.g. paint and other ‘closed’ finishes) must be fully removed prior to application. Previous porous finishes should be lightly sanded before over coating. When over coating a previously finished surface, a trial application is essential. Flaking or peeling finishes must be fully removed prior to application. Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminates e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust etc. Timbers susceptible to decay, mould and fungi should be treated first with a suitable preservative.
We advise that when using Grey Cedar Oil, sufficient product is purchased to complete the whole project and when more than one tin is required it is advisable to mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be between 8º𝖼 and 25º𝖼 during application and drying. We strongly recommend a trial application prior to starting the project.
Application Process
Stir tins thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush or roller to evenly apply Treatex Grey Cedar Oil in the same direction as the wood grain. Pay particular attention to end grain, on end grain apply liberally. After approximately 12 hours the first coat can be over coated. Apply with a brush or roller a second coat of Treatex Cedar Oil. After the second coat leave for approximately 12 hours to dry. Treatex Grey Cedar Oil is not a surface building product.
